Afterhour – Wilken Schade
Exhibition Opening December 4th, 7pm
Exhibition runs until Saturday January 16th 2016
Wilken had an early interest in music. The Jazz records his father brought from the US when he was a child had a great influence on him. He bought his first Elvis Presley record at the age of 6. After a carpenter apprenticeship, he moved to England in his twenties for the sake of Dub music. In the UK, besides studying art and collecting records, he was the initiator of the musical trio Don Air. The dub-downtempo project gained international notoriety, catapulted by the Stereo MC’s – who released the legendary album „Carpenters’ Delight“ on their label Response Records.
