On the occasion of the show ‘Wunschkonzert’ by Hanne Darboven at Konrad Fischer Galerie Berlin, Roc Jiménez de Cisneros will give a performance of Hanne Darbovens Opus 17a.
‘Wunschkonzert’ refers to a Sunday radio show on the German channel NDR, which invited listeners to request pieces of music to congratulate friends and relatives on their birthdays and other special occasions. It is also the title of a work from 1984 which is among those currently on show at Konrad Fischer Galerie. The work, encompassing a total of 1009 pages, is divided into four parts; Opus 17A and B, and Opus 18 A and B. Each opus is comprised of 36 poems, structured vertically in rows of 7, and a title page collaged with a confirmation greetings card. In the same year Hanne Darboven wrote a score for the Wunschkonzert as double bass solo.
Roc Jiménez de Cisneros makes mentasmic computer music and deformed rave objects. With Stephen Sharp he dissects and deforms all sort of techno artifacts, stretching them to their very breaking point, where mental dissociation meets fun. Their work has been published on labels such as Diagonal, Presto!?, Editions Mego, Entr’acte or their very own Alku. Recent recordings include ‘Do These’ (Presto!?), ‘Flapper That’ (Diagonal), and ’Right Frankfurt’ (Diagonal).
Since 2015, the duo has made a number of very free interpretations of Hanne Darboven’s legendary ‘Opus 17a’ (1984). One of the most impressive performances could be heard and seen at the Hanne Darboven show at the Reina Sofia in Madrid: ‘The order of time and things. The home studio of Hanne Darboven.’ in 2014.
This will be the 12th performance in the series.
The Hanne Darboven exhibition, shown alongside sculptures by Charlotte Posenenske, will be on view untill February, 25th at Konrad Fischer Galerie, Lindenstrasse 35, 10969 Berlin.

Im Rahmen der Ausstellung Hanne Darboven Wunschkonzert präsentiert die Konrad Fischer Galerie das im gleichen Jahr entstandene Solokonzert für Kontrabass Opus 17A in einer Interpretation des spanischen Musikers Roc Jiménez de Cisneros (EVOL).
Seit den 80 Jahren entwirft Hanne Darboven eigene musikalische Kompositionen. Ebenso wie ihr bildnerisches Werk unterliegt das musikalische Schaffen einem von ihr entwickelten Zahlensystem und verbindet sich mit dem Begriff der mathematischen Musik: „Ich schreibe mathematische Prosa, ich schreibe mathematische Musik.“ „Es fasziniert mich, sowenig ich auch von der Mathematik weiss. Fühle keine Verantwortung gegenüber der sogenannten Mathematik, tue mit meiner Mathematik, in meiner Weise, wie ich sie mir wünsche und finde es grossartig.“ Aus der von Hanne Darboven entwickelten Notenschrift lässt sich weder die Tonhöhe, noch die Tondauer lesen. Erst in der Zusammenarbeit mit den Musikern Friedrich Stoppa und später Wolfgang Marx, welche die Kompositionen in herkömmliche Notationen überführen, werden die Werke für Musiker in einfacher Form zugänglich.
Der Musiker Roc Jiménez de Cisneros (EVOL) beschäftigt sich mit Computermusik. Zusammen mit Stephen Sharp benutzt und entfremdet er verschiedene Techno-Artefakte. Das Duo hat Hanne Darbovens Opus 17A mehrfach und teils sehr frei interpretiert, so etwa 2014 in der Ausstellung ‘The order of time and things. The home studio of Hanne Darboven.‘ Museo Nacional Centro Reina Sofia, Madrid. Die Aufführung bei Echo Bücher ist ihre nun 12. Performance der Hanne Darboven Komposition.
Die Ausstellungen Hanne Darboven Wunschkonzert und Charlotte Posenenske Dasselbe Anders sind noch bis zum 25. Februar in der Konrad Fischer Galerie Berlin zu sehen.
